L'Inconsolable Man Tour è il primo tour mondiale dopo 12 anni...e da questo è tratto lo splendido Live in Montreal. Originariamente registrato per uno show alla tv canadese, si rivelò miscelato e realizzato in modo perfetto, tanto che Gino decise di pubblicarlo come album live.

Con i brani Rhythm of Romance, If I Should Lose This Love e Sunset on L.A. il disco è liricamente e musicalmente interessante e stimolante. Gino ha subito profondi cambiamenti nella sua vita e questo si riflette molto nell' Inconsolable Man.

Il 5° album di Gino dimostra la bellezza della fusione classica e pop insieme. Anche in questo disco, la prima parte è riservata alle canzoni (una più bella dell'altra), la seconda è classica, tanto da portare Gino a Londra per registrare con la Royal Philarmonic Orchestra. Due le canzoni cantate: l'incredibile Black and Blue e A Pauper in Paradise nel 4° movimento. MAGICO!!!

Grande reazione dell'industria musicale a questo 2° disco. Il funky potente di People Gotta Move gli permise di ottenere il 22° posto su Billboard's Hot 100 nell'ottobre del '74 e una nomination al Grammy. Per la prima volta Gino e Joe sperimentarono il suono del sintetizzatore. Da People Gotta Move a Poor Happy Jimmy...una carrellata di canzoni sorprendenti!!!

Crazy Life - 1973

 

Riuscire a trovare all'epoca un contratto discografico...fu difficile! I fratelli Vannelli si stavano quasi arrendendo, quando (per nostra grande fortuna), la determinazione di Gino e l'intuito musicale di Herb Alpert ebbero la meglio. Nacque così il 1° album...e già in questa fase iniziale, le doti di Gino sono evidenti: testi poetici, voce potente e inimitabile, musica che trae il meglio da vari generi...e fu subito Vannelli!!
Nè sul disco di allora nè sul cd poi, vengono menzionati musicisti. In un'intervista rilasciata molti anni dopo, Gino disse che tutte le parti strumentali furono eseguite da lui e dal fratello Joe. GRANDI!!!
